Last April 4, 2019, Melissa Shoes released a collaboration with FILA held at SM Mega Fashion Hall. The event was filled with plenty of celebrities, lifestyle enthusiasts and influencers such as Tessa Prieto Valdez, Susan Joven, Ella Ramirez, Janeena Chan, Jazz Ocampo and more. The guests enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres and drinks while listening to the music played by Kat DJ.
Melissa and FILA set up their booth and displayed their new set of offerings. The collaboration features four items inspired by the ’80s and ’90s, including sneakers, sandal platform, slides and bumbags. Throwback styles have gained a lot of attraction within the last couple of years, especially with the high demand of chunky sneakers. Remarkably, FILA Disruptor 2 sneaker was named FNAA’s Shoe of the Year in 2018. According to the CEO and owner of FILA Philippines, Cris Abad Santos Albert, the Melissa and FILA Shoes will be available on their select stores only.
The collection blends both of the label’s distinctive aesthetics, with classic mainstays like Fila’s signature colors: navy, red and white. Each shoe is made out of Melissa’s recycled PVC plastic, making each design fun and sustainable. The managing director of Tykes Trading, Inc., the official distributor of Melissa in the Philippines, Joanna Co said that “This is not the type of footwear you’d wear for running, it’s a lifestyle pair but if you want to achieve a sporty look, this is one of the pairs you can use.”
